But despite the heat, there's so much to look forward to this month: A wine festival at a historic plantation, potentially a Washington Redskins football game next week, a Navy football game, a visit from one of my brothers, an oyster festival, and the most exciting of all... planning a trip home for November!! (more details to come)
In the mean time, to send off September, I'll share some pictures from over this past weekend. Since I didn't have to work (WOO), we went to have for some fun at Forrest Hall Farm! Pretty big farm with apple and peach tree orchards, a field of grapes that is part of a co-op with a local winery, big green houses growing lots of produce, a large cornfield, a farm shop, and lots of activities!

Cute little store with fresh picked fruit & veggies, jellies & jams, and lots of odds and ends! |
Area for kids to play, parties, and some pens with animals |
I think the best part was being able to bring the dog with... Why you ask? Because the common curiosity from Zella and the barn animals she approached was hilarious - especially the goats. Cows backed away from her immediately. She turned into a chicken and peacock herder when we walked by the coup. But the goats stood and stared at her, and Zella would wait until they got close to the fence to let our her most ferocious bark.
* I might add that I've never had a dog before, so I find most things that she does interesting, if not fascinating, and always adorable.

Puppy's first hayrack ride. Probably not as exciting as sticking your head out of the car window. |
The trip to the farm was nothing different than something we'd do in the Midwest - like at Eckert's outside of STL, which everyone and their brother must have went to last week because I was getting jealous of all the pictures on social media!! But it was a nice break from all the Netflix watching during the week after work.
So to end this.. here's a little shout out for October being Breast Cancer Awareness month. In college I was an active member of Zeta Tau Alpha fraternity, and am now a member of the DC Zeta Alumnae group, whose National philanthropy is Breast Cancer Education and Awareness. I am hoping to get up to DC & Baltimore this month to help hand out ribbons before games, time willing. Here's a throwback of handing out ribbons at a Billiken game at SLU :)
